The CCO at Shippensburg University takes on four primary forms of ministry. Philip Schiavoni works out of the First Church of God (FCOG) and Holly Finchum partners with University Community Ministries. Matt Ramsay reaches out to Shippensburg students as well. These three campus ministers come alongside the existing student-led campus ministry groups, Christian Fellowship (CF) and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), to aid, teach, encourage and mentor.
Through local churches, the CCO offers a ‘Sunday Morning Gathering’ for college students and young adults to study Scripture and ask how they can be faithful to God on their campus. There is also an interfaith ‘Sunday Night Church’ (SNC) geared toward students who do not have a place of their own to worship.
Philip runs the After Hours Coffee Shop every Thursday night for students in the area. This is a time of live music, free drinks and lively discussion.
And finally, Philip, Holly and Matt spend time with various clubs on campus, leading Bible studies, tutoring, meeting students in the on campus coffee shops and just being with students in an attempt to become , as the Apostle Paul, all things to all people so that by all possible means some may experience rescue.
