CCO staff member Michael Chen partners with the City Church in Philadelphia to reach out to students at the University of Pennsylvania. There are a variety of ways to connect with the CCO and Michael at U Penn.

Tuesday Night Bible Study is a time where students are invited to worship, pray, share a meal together, and study scripture. This is a time to be reminded of the gospel as students seek out what it means to be missional on campus. The Tuesday Night Bible Study meets in Houston Hall, Tuesdays 7-9pm.

Dorm Discussions are open forum discussions where topics like faith, purpose, and meaning are discussed. The classroom does not present a welcoming atmosphere to talk about these issues, but this is a setting where personal worldviews are examined and new understandings are gained. These discussions engage students not only on an intellectual level, but facilitate the process of deepening friendships across diverse backgrounds, for Christians and non-Christians.

Sunday Dinners connect the local congregation to students in the hope that the church might play a central role in students’ lives. The City Church hosts dinners once a month so students can get to know professors, architects, musicians, and other working professionals who are committed to living out the gospel in their sphere of work. It is here, through hospitality, the church can nurture students’ faith.

Opportunities for service can take place locally and globally. Serving on Sundays at City Church as well as through other local congregations, students can put their gifts to work for the Kingdom. Service and learning trips, both domestic and global, are designed as a way to engage the students in God’s mission beyond the campus.

Please contact Michael to find out how to get involved.
