- Does the person work half-time for us and half-time for the CCO?
- Although the partnering institution provides only part of the funding for a position, both the CCO and the partnering institution share responsibility for all of the job description. The position will be one full-time job, with one job description and two supervisors.
- Where does the CCO find its staff?
- Approximately 65% of our staff people come from colleges and churches where CCO staff currently serve. Remaining staff are recruited from colleges around the country or are identified by our nationwide network of alumni and friends. The CCO is not a placement service, nor do we assign our staff to positions.
- How does the financing work, and what is the actual salary of the staff person?
- The salary of each staff person will be in line with the CCO’s salary schedule. These salary levels reflect the educational level and years of experience of each staff person.
- Is the CCO affiliated with the Presbyterian Church or any other denomination?
- The CCO is an interdenominational organization. We currently partner with churches representing six denominations and are open to participating with many more.
- How is the CCO funded?
- Our development staff people raise all of the administrative overhead for the CCO. Campus staff positions are funded through individual support-raising efforts of staff members and through partnering institutional monies.
- How much time will the staff person be away from the partnering institution for training?
- The CCO training program involves regular Training Team meetings (for first-year staff only), three two-day Staff Seminars, and Summer Institute (one week at end of July), as well as our annual weekend conference for college students, Jubilee (in February). These training events are essential to the investment of the CCO in each staff person, and they also benefit the partnering institution.
- Is the CCO a placement service?
- Each partnering institution participates in the selection of staff people. This includes an on-site interview process, identifying preferred candidates, and making an offer to a specific candidate. Each candidate is free to accept or decline the position, and the institution is then free to offer it to other candidates.
