Just as the CCO turned 40 years old in 2011, so did Allegheny Christian Outreach, one of the first student-led fellowship groups advised by a CCO staff person. During Allegheny College’s homecoming weekend (September 30-October 2, 2011), more than 70 current and former students gathered to celebrate how God has worked in the lives of generations of college students, and how He continues to work in their lives in the months, years and decades since they have graduated.

In addition to student alumni, former CCO members came back as well. Brad Frey [1977-80] and Vicki (Johnson) Prusia [1988-91] returned and joined current staff worker Mollie Little, Allegheny class of 1998, who has worked with the CCO at Allegheny since 1999. CCO President Dan Dupee accepted the invitation of master organizer Tim Solomon, class of 1979 (and a CCO staff member in Pittsburgh from 1983-88), to join the reunion as well.

One alumna remembered being told by her staff worker: “God never leaves Himself without a witness.” God’s witness through members of ACO to the Allegheny College community continues into its fourth decade.

While at Malone College, on several occasions I attended the Jubilee conferences in Pittsburgh. I thoroughly enjoyed the keynote speakers, workshop presenters, and the overall fellowship and worship that took place. God had begun to do a deep work in me while in college. The conferences helped encourage and challenge me to think biblically. Even more so, I was fortunate to have developed a friendship with CCO staffer Renee (Dayan) Suhr that had impacted my relationships with God and others. Renee was kind and challenging. She really did embrace me. Coming from a place of utter brokenness and devastation, God surely does place people in our path to minister to us. Renee was that person for me at Malone. The work, impact, and the people of CCO are so important to the Kingdom of God. It is a great reminder to me that God really does know us and has a plan for our lives. CCO, continue to faithfully serve the Lord.

I went to the Ocean City Beach Project (OCBP) in the summer of 2001, the summer before my junior year. My life has never been the same since that time. I could not have had a more wonderful and formative experience. I made wonderful friends and learned a lot about leadership and the impact I can have on those around me. After college, I went to seminary and now work in ministry professionally. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this program and the dedicated individuals that ensure its success. My prayers and good wishes go out to all of you who have gone and are there now. For those of you thinking about going, I promise you won’t regret it.
